When it comes to shaping your career path, your résumé and your network are two of the most powerful tools you have. But here’s the truth: they’re not just checkboxes in the job search process. They are extensions of your personal energy—expressions of who you are, what you’ve done, and where you’re heading.

When these tools are aligned with your authentic self, they don’t just get you noticed—they help you attract the right opportunities. As a career and energy alignment coach, I encourage my clients to see résumé writing and networking not as chores, but as intentional practices of storytelling and connection.

Resume Writing Tips

Lead with Alignment Your résumé should tell a story, not just list jobs. Open with a professional summary that reflects your energy and your “why.” This is where you can communicate not only what you’ve done, but what motivates you—and where you’re headed.

Keep It Clear and Focused Hiring managers skim quickly. Use clean formatting, bullet points, and action verbs. Every section should highlight value, not filler. A concise résumé communicates confidence.

Show Impact, Not Just Duties Responsibilities don’t set you apart—results do. Instead of writing “Managed client accounts,” try: "Increased client retention by 20% through personalized relationship-building. "Quantifying results adds clarity, confidence, and power to your story.

Infuse Energy Into Your Language The words you choose matter. Phrases like collaborated, created, innovated, or led carry energy. Select language that matches the type of work and environment you want to move toward.

Networking Notes

Focus on Relationships, Not Transactions Networking isn’t about asking for a job—it’s about planting seeds of connection. Approach each conversation with curiosity: listen, ask questions, and share openly. The strongest networks are built on authenticity.

Be Consistent Across Channels Engage regularly, whether on LinkedIn, through alumni groups, or at local events. Small, consistent touchpoints keep you top-of-mind and show that you’re invested in building community.

Tell Your Story with Confidence When someone asks, “What do you do?” don’t just list job titles. Share your purpose in a way that feels alive: "I help people and organizations grow by aligning talent with purpose." This kind of statement creates connection and invites curiosity.

Protect Your Energy Networking should feel expansive, not draining. Choose rooms, conversations, and communities that align with your values. When you’re in spaces that energize you, the connections will feel more natural and lasting.

The Takeaway

Your résumé and your network are more than career tools—they are reflections of your energy. When you bring clarity, intention, and alignment to both, you don’t just stand out—you attract opportunities that feel right.

At Elements of Energy, I help clients align their career strategy with their personal energy. The goal is simple: to ensure that what’s on paper and who you are in person match seamlessly. Because when your story and your energy are in sync, doors open—and the right ones at that.
